Sharing ideas to decrease the amount of water used to make shirts
Our Experiment
We dyed our own t-shirts
We colored our shirts with dye. It was very dark and very messy and spreads throughout the shirt.
We used an Ash treatment first. We soaked our shirts in this liquid so that the color would be more vibrant. This is called a pretreatment and an example of wet processing.
We let the shirts sit overnight, then rinsed out the excess dye. A lot of dye comes off and it wastes a lot of water. It also lightened the color on the shirt.
